Now that the weather is becoming more seasonal, I know we are all excited to enjoy some outdoor tennis! I wanted to take the opportunity to provide the following information and updates to our valued Members.
Club Events and Tournaments
The Board plans to finalize and communicate dates for Club Events and Tournaments for the entire season later this month. Some dates are already known and are outlined below as well as posted on the online Club Calendar.
Club Opening Social
We look forward to hosting a Club Opening Social event so everyone can meet the Board, catch up with returning Members and meet new Members. We expect to plan this event in the first half of May.
As part of the Agreement with the City of Mississauga, the Club is required to offer open houses throughout the season to allow public participation and encourage Club membership. Dates for the Open Houses will be announced shortly.

Participating in regular Club programs is a great way to meet new Members and improve your match-play. Many Members have been asking about when regular Club programming will begin and below you will find the latest information available.
Daytime doubles Round Robins (Mondays/Wednesdays 9-11 am) will begin the first week of May. Players of all skill levels are welcome and there is no need to sign up in advance to participate.
Our popular evening doubles Round Robins (Tuesdays/Sundays 7-10 pm) will begin once the overhead lights have been repaired, which is estimated to be by mid-May. We will keep Members apprised of the start date. Note that online sign-up is required to participate (same day sign-up) for the evening Round Robins and they will be divided into skill level, with one 90 min session for 3.0 and below players and one 90 min session for 3.0 and above players. If you are unsure of your skill level, please contact our Tennis Director for an assessment.
The Lakeshore League is for more competitive doubles players – both men and women. The Club plans to have 2 teams that field 8 players (4 men and 4 women) each week. They play home matches at the Club using all 4 courts on Wednesdays from 7pm to 10pm. When one team is playing a home match, the other will be playing an away match at another club in the lakeshore region from Mississauga to Hamilton. The two teams are in different divisions and play at different levels of competition. The Lakeshore League will start the towards the end of May.
If you are interested in joining a Tecumseh Lakeshore League team, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The Intercounty Tennis Association +55 League is known for both its competitive and social nature. This League offers senior club members (age 55+) the opportunity to meet their peers/tennis enthusiasts at different clubs. Teams are divided geographically into different Division levels. League matches commence at 10am on Thursday mornings and consist of 1 women’s, 1 men’s and 1 mixed match.
If you are interested in joining a Tecumseh Intercounty Tennis Association +55 team, please send an email to email@example.com
Tennis ladders are for those Members who enjoy competitive play and who want an opportunity to play with other Members of similar skill level. The better you play, the more points you score, the higher on the Ladder you climb! The start date for the Tennis Ladders will be communicated soon.
Please ensure you follow the court booking policies outlined on the website here. As a reminder, Members are only permitted to make one booking a day at the Club. Court bookings are 60 mins for singles (2 players) or 90 mins for doubles (4 players).
Court 1 and Court 2
The paper sign-up sheets to book Court 1 and Court 2 will start to be posted Thursday, April 13.
The online system for booking Court 3 is already active and Members should have received an email with instructions on setting up their online booking account.
Court 4 is booked with priority for lessons and clinics by the Tennis Director and his assistant coach. When Court 4 is not in use, Members are welcome to use this court. Chalk will be left next to the Court 4 chalk board for Members to indicate when they start playing on Court 4. If Members do not document their start time, new players can take the court upon arrival. If the Tennis Director or his assistant coach need immediate access to the court for any reason, the Members using Court 4 must vacate.
The nets are up and windscreens have been installed on Court 4. The windscreens for Courts 1-3 will be installed on Wednesday, April 12 between 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
The electricity has been turned on and the overhead lights are operational, however a repair is needed for one of the Court 4 lights. This repair will be completed once the ground surrounding the courts is dry, hopefully by mid-May. The Tennis Director will be utilizing Court 1 (with the divider closed) for his evening instructional programming until the light on Court 4 is repaired.
The City has also started the process to upgrade the overhead lighting at the Club. There are many steps involved, including procurement, design, and tendering for the project. Once these steps are complete and the new poles and lights are received, the installation can take place, which is expected to start in early October. The courts will then be reconstructed in the spring of 2024. Instead of simply resurfacing, we will reconstruct the courts and fix the drainage issues at the Club, which will ensure our courts remain playable for many years to come. As communicated previously, the City will be repairing some of the cracks on the courts in late April/early May, so they are safe for this season.
